Here is some various information about our pools in general.

Scoring- Since baby pools usually have many participants, some as many as 100, you can't just guess on the date or the time of day. Therefore, our scoring system is based on 4 different aspects of a newborn and weighted as explained below. We didn't include time of day because we felt that there are already enough things to guess on. However, time of day could be added in the future.

• 5 points per day off - past or before. There is no "going over".
• 5 points per ounce off. There is no "going over".
• 10 points per inch off. There is no "going over".
• 400 points if the gender. You better get this 50/50 chance right! And check to see if the expecting parents already know the gender!
• No identical guesses are allowed!

Game Integrity and Registration - We didn't want to require all participants to have to register to make a guess because it's just a drag. However, we couldn't just let participants just come in guess without having a reliable way of identifying themselves. Therefore, when you send out an invitation, a special code is generated just for that participant. The participant can go to your game page by clicking on the link in the email or by visiting the site, entering their email address and entering their code. We consider email security adequate enough for the sake of a fun baby pool.

Registration is always required if anyone wants to modify a guess. Also, a person must activate their account from the email they register under. This is also an identification mechanism.

Guessing- When a game is active, all guesses are hidden from everyone except the manager. It's not fair for those who guess later to have an advantage. Once the deadline has past, all guesses are then published for everyone to see.

Recognizing that baby pools are traditionally a "paper and pen" game that's often put together at a baby shower, we wanted to have a way to get all of those who may not use the computer much to get involved. Therefore, the manager can also add guesses on a person's behalf. That person doesn't even have to have an email address. However, the manager will receive all emails on behalf of the offline participant.

Game Manager- The game or pool manager has full control over the pool. He or she can edit any guess, remove guesses, remove participants and enter new guesses.

Pool Contributions- If you have a PayPal account, you can place a "Buy It Now" button straight onto your pool page so participants can make contributions directly to you!

Privacy- Your email address and name are always hidden from public view and your display name is used. We we take your privacy very very seriously.
